No more EMP!

June 23, 2007

EMP is an egg food that is used for rearing birds, however it is often recommended in the rearing of baby rats as well as a good protein source. I fed it to my girls when Tinks and Doughnut were little at least once a week.

Today I have found out it contains Ethoxyquin, which is a preservative commonly used in pet foods, that has been suggested to cause several health problems in pets. I feel very guilty now that I didn’t read the bag and have been feeding my rats on it. I saw it reccomended so many times I didn’t even think to check for myself I was happy with the ingredients. Needles to say they won’t be getting any more!
