Making friends!

August 6, 2010

I had to take Tully to the vets today as she has a little lump in her armpit. We have been given antibiotics and instructions to return in a week.

On the way back home I went via a friend’s to pick up her gerbils who are having a holiday here. I stopped for a cuppa and took the ratties in with me. (I took Thyme along to keep Tully company). Both got taken out of their carrier and Tully was running about on my friend and Thyme on my friend’s sister. They both got sleepy eventually and settled down to enjoy scritches and stroking and Thyme curled up like a little cat and went to sleep. She was so chilled out it was lovely and totally convinced my friend’s sister that she wanted a rat!

Then Tully had a little cuddle with my friend’s mum who is a bit rat tail phobic but had agreed by the end of the visit that they were very cute and I might convince her one day!!

So, I am very proud of my lovely cuddly girls – I always love convincing people how great rats are as pets.

The three troublemakers!

Finally some photographs of Pets at Home adoptees Rosemary, Thyme and Jasmine. These guys were returned because apparently they smelled but they are the most fantastic girls. They are all full of mischief and are so confident and cheeky. They love people and are out saying hello whatever time of day it is. Jasmine is Steve’s rat. He takes her out and she trots straight up to his shoulder where she sits and has a yoghurt drop!

They are about 6 months old now but are so tiny, they just don’t grow! Keeley and Fearn are already heavier than them despite being only 3 months old!

Say hi to:

I love this photo, she just looks so cute and innocent! And she really isn’t!!

About half of my photos of Thyme had her head chopped off because she was moving about so quick!

So that’s all the ratties now introduced. I will put some of the photos up of my ‘older’ ladies that I took when I did the youngsters photo shoot shortly.

Website Update

October 25, 2009

Just a little post to point people in the direction of the Northern Lights Rats website, specifically the My Rats page as all nine new guys and girls have had their own pages added, after having a photo shoot last weekend.

I will add some of the photos here tomorrow as I got some new, quite nice ones of the older girls as well.

I seem to have three new additions to the ratty family!

A few days ago someone posted on our local website about 3 rats for sale, so I said they could take them back to Pets at Home (where I work) who would accept them into their adoption centre. Well the three little fuzzballs arrived on Thursday evening and immediately showed how lovely and friendly they were. My OH came in on Saturday so I got him to have a cuddle and after about 3 seconds he says to me, “so when you bringing them home then?!” so they came home today as I worked all weekend and needed time to set up their new cage.

They are three girls, 2 roans and a Silver Fawn hooded, about 5 months old and they are really lovely. They are already at the cage door looking to get out and will climb on anyone. I’ve named them Jasmine, Rosemary & Thyme, as the poor little things didn’t have names when they arrived 😦

I will get some photos soon.
